Here at The Matthew, we're still recovering from our 25th Anniversary celebrations last weekend. It was wonderful to see so many faces joining us and enjoying the festivities!

If you visited the ship, saw us sailing around the harbour, or were one of those who joined us on a trip over our celebration weekend, we'd love to see your photos! You can send them to us at info@matthew.co.uk to be included on our website. We're in the process of putting together a dedicated online gallery to celebrate the occasion - more on this coming soon…

We've now cleared the decks and are back to our usual activities of public and private trips. And with that in mind, we've just announced our next batch of trips for June 2022. Tickets are on sale now!

Ship opening hours

We're also open at our usual summer times again: Tuesday to Sunday, 10am-4pm. It’s free of charge to visit – you can come on board, have a look around, climb the steps to the upper decks, and have a chat with our knowledgeable volunteer guides and crew.

The Matthew is generally open for visitors when moored at Princes Wharf during these hours. However, please be aware that opening hours are subject to change without notice - get in touch with the office to make sure we're there if you're making a special trip to see us!

Sailing around Bristol Harbour…

We were blessed with glorious weather for our celebration Harbour Trips on Saturday 30 June (it wasn't quite so dry on Sunday...).

The Matthew that you see in Bristol today is a modern reconstruction of the original Matthew that John Cabot sailed to Newfoundland in 1497. It is a much-loved part of Bristol’s maritime heritage with a busy schedule of public boat trips, film and festival work, corporate and celebratory events.
